What is the difference between a schedule and scene in the Touchstone App?

Modified on Tue, 25 Mar at 4:46 PM

Problem: The fireplace was scheduled in the mobile app to turn on at a certain time, but it also activates the thermostat and the heater.

Solution: Program your fireplace to turn on using the “Scene” functionality rather than the “Scheduling” in the Touchstone Fireplace App. This will allow you to set the Fireplace to turn on without activating the thermostat.

Instructions:

The Touchstone Fireplace App, provides two different ways of scheduling tasks for your fireplace:

Setting up the Scene – this method of automation allows you to program more sophisticated tasks based on a wide variety of triggers. You can even involve multiple smart devices and configure them to interact with each other.

Schedule – this method is one of the functions listed for each individual fireplace in your household. It is very basic and should only be used if you want the fireplace to turn on at a specific time and set the thermostat to the desired temperature. If you don’t set-up the temperature, it will automatically be set to 67F causing the heater to turn on and off according to the sensor’s readings.

To resolve the problem of the fireplace turning on and off the heat automatically, deactivate the event in the schedule, and create a scene that only turns on and off your fireplace without setting up the default temperature.
